Backstory
I recently came across a unique zipper installation method by a lady on Youtube (PegaPega Fofurices) where there was no need for zipper tabs to create neat zipper ends. The results were beautiful curved ends and I was intrigued. Unfortunately, the instructions were not in English and it took a couple of trial and error to truly perfect the method. I hope that by sharing this method in English, more people would be able to benefit from this unique way of zipper installation.
Product Features
full length zipper with rounded ends
rounded bottom corners

Estimated Finished Dimensions (Width x Height x Depth)
This wee pattern was such a quick make, and a perfect size for a coin purse or just dropping a lipstick/credit card into. I used fleece interfacing on this one but would use something thinner next time, as the exterior fabric was quite thick. Added a wee tassel to the rose gold hardware...just because it looked cute.
There will definitely be a next time...or many more times. LOVE IT ❤️
Sweet little pouch works up quickly. I made 4 in no time at all. I have several more partially prepped, and I printed the pattern at 125% to make some a little larger. Thank you for this pattern!
This is a great pattern with easy instructions that make it quick to put together. One afternoon of sewing, blink and 22 appeared. They will make great gifts this year for Christmas.
I consider myself fairly experienced in installing zippers but had never seen this method until the Sakura Pouch and now I can’t wait to adapt the technique to bigger bags! This zipper installation method allows for a wide opening without use of zipper tabs while still having a neat finish. The size of the Sakura Pouch is also so cute and comes together fast for last minute gifts. This was my intro to SSOL patterns and I am already eyeing a bunch more that I want to try!
This pattern is so addictive to make. After making my first I had to make 10 more l. So easy and quick to make. And I learned a great tip to make my pouches so neat in and out. Thank you so much!

Pretty Sakuras! Please share them here as well! https://www.facebook.com/groups/ssoldesigns
My first attempt at small pouches. Took me a while to figure out things but am very happy with the result. They were for my kids’ dentist and her assistant. I went on to make a few more as CNY angpows for my elders. They absolutely love them. Learnt a lot from this sew.👍
The Sakura Coin Purse pattern is my new fav for a quick sew. Great directions, I love the zipper technique. We needed some teachers gifts and this was the first choice.
This is a great pattern that is super easy to follow. There are lots of ways you can personalize it. I have made it following the pattern, enlarging it 120% (adding a wristlet strap) and also adding a divider pocket inside. AWESOME designer and I look forward to making more and more. They are addictive and a great scrap buster project!
LOVE this pattern! And yes, they are addicting. Small enough to use up scraps and there are endless possibilities for which fabrics to use. They’re fun for all fabrics. Make them cute or elegant, your choice. The pattern instructions are clear and super easy to follow. I highly recommend this pattern.
I had bought a bunch of #5 zippers from someone on eBay for super cheap. They were all off-white. The turned out to be too short for my project. How happy I am to have this fun little zippered pouch to use them in. Fast, fun and cute! Thanks for a great pattern!
